Speaker and author Prem Rawat sets new Guinness World Record at book reading event

International speaker and author Prem Rawat, has set a new Guinness World Record for drawing the largest audience at a single-author book reading event.

The event, which took place on April 2 in Lucknow, India, saw Rawat reading a chapter of his book Hear Yourself in Hindi to an audience of over 114,000 people, surpassing the previous record of 6,786 people.

Hear Yourself is brought to life through ageless stories of ancient and modern origin, as Rawat shares his experiences meeting a wide range of people from religious luminaries, political leaders, to prisoners in some of the world’s highest security prisons," said a statement made available to Bernama.

The book, published by Harper Collins, was released in English in the United States in September 2021, and quickly became a New York Times best-seller.

"The book is currently available in several other languages including French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese."Now in Hindi, the book has been released throughout India and internationally," said the statement, adding the book reading event was attended by dignitaries, intellectuals, celebrities, students and individuals from all walks of life.

The statement also said the new world record established by Rawat also exceeded the previous multiple author record of 20,264 held by Harry Potter author, J.K. Rowling, and two others.

Born in Northern India in 1957, Rawat has addressed hundreds of millions of people worldwide at live events as well as on TV and radio. His talks have been translated into more than 75 languages, and he is regularly invited to speak at universities and prestigious international forums and events. – Bernama
