In Britain, novelists and professional writers face precarious times

Making a living from writing is a dream for many people around the world, whether they’re amateurs or otherwise.

But this activity is not as lucrative as it used to be, according to a new study carried out by the Copyright and Creative Economy Research Centre (CREATe), based at the University of Glasgow, and commissioned by Britain’s Authors’ Licensing and Collecting Society (ALCS).
