Preloved books are becoming increasingly popular among Malaysian readers who are looking not only for bargains, but also rare and out-of-print tomes not available from chainstore sources. Photo: The Star/Daryl Goh

There comes a bittersweet moment in the life of many book lovers, when they have to start selling off their beloved reads. Sometimes, this difficult decision is made because of financial reasons, or a move to a different location.

The most common reason for book-culling, however, is due to the lack of home storage space. A book lover will have to trim old books to make way for the new.
