Airbnb is collaborating with non-profit The Actors Fund to bring a touch of showbiz and the creative arts into your home.
In this Airbnb Online Experiences series, talented actors, singers and dancers from Broadway, the West End and beyond, will offer audiences a glimpse into different aspects of their art form.
Have you always dreamt of joining the dancers from the cast of Chicago? Now you can – well, kind of, as they will be leading you in two jazzy dance lessons. The dancers from Moulin Rouge! will demonstrate how to can-can and show you some workout routines. Associate choreographer Edgar Godineaux will guide you on some of The Temptations’ iconic dance moves from Ain’t Too Proud.
There is also an opportunity to be a part of an official Disney DCappella music video with DCAppella, co-hosted by Deke Sharon, the music director and arranger of the Pitch Perfect films.
If storytelling is more your cup of tea, then check out the session by some of the cast of Broadway’s Mrs Doubtfire.
“In this time of social distancing, it is imperative for artists to find an outlet to create and collaborate in order to continue to tell our stories. With Broadway dark, we must reevaluate and reestablish what the community means – what we want it to mean – in order to move forward,” says actor/singer Tituss Burgess in a statement.
His session on storytelling through song includes workshopping on your favourite 16-bar cut of a song, something he calls “an integral part of any vocal audition process”. Hundreds of artists from across the world, including magicians, musicians and set designers, are a part of this initiative.
Besides providing access to the theatre stars and arts practitioners, it will also offer economic opportunities to members of the arts community who have been impacted by the pandemic and closure of theatres and performances spaces.
These Airbnb Online Experiences range from US$15 to US$60 (RM63 to RM250).
