There can be no clearer indication of the World Youth Jazz Festival (WYJF) gaining its wings than how the jamboree has secured Dataran Merdeka as its venue this year. The musical extravaganza, now in its fifth year, takes place from today to Sunday at the historic and strategic venue.
The point is not lost on festival director, Datuk Nik Ahmad Azmi, also the president of music appreciation society, JazzComm, which drives the festival, that getting the venue is tantamount to a display of some kind of divine intervention.
