They rushed out of their car to join the 40-strong crowd watching the film being screened on the wall of the shoplot tucked in the middle of the quiet suburb in Kuala Lumpur. The youthful trio’s excitement was palpable, even as their joy at discovering an “open-air show!” hung unsaid in the warm night air.

The moment their bubble burst was plain to see too, as instantly as they saw what was on show - an archived British report of the 1955 Baling Talks. As quickly, they skulked away, probably for their latte and machiato at the nearby café.
