Star Wars comics back under the Marvel banner

Han Solo's wife making things complicated between him and Leia. Awkward.

Unfortunately for Dark Horse, Disney’s acquisition of both Marvel and Lucasfilm meant that the inevitable happened – the licence for Star Wars comics returned to Marvel in 2014, and a whole new line was launched. This time, however, both the publisher and Lucasfilm are actually working together to ensure that everything falls within the franchise’s canon.

A new era: Marvel’s second run of Star Wars comics kicked off in January this year, with the launch of writer Jason Aaron and artist John Cassaday’s flagship Star Wars ongoing series, and continued in February with Star Wars: Darth Vader by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca. Besides the two regular series, Marvel also published several other character-specific miniseries, focusing on Princess Leia, Lando Calrissian, and Chewbacca.
