It would have been nice to be able to say that it was a flurry of activity backstage minutes before the opening night of Saturday Night Fever – The Musical at The Theatre at Solaire in Manila in early July, but you would have to be a fly on the wall to see that.

I was there several hours before the show on opening night, and it was quiet enough to interview Nick Varricchio, who plays the irrepressible Double J, with no hitches. We sat in the same diner booth that Tony Manero (played by Brandon Rubendall) and Stephanie Mangano (played by Jenna Rubaii) have a heart-to-heart talk in this show, so that felt quite special.
