It has always been the reigning principle: the old must give way to the new. Very rarely do they exist together. But sometimes the old refuses to leave. Why must it disappear? It will survive in the fringes. It will bide its time until it has no choice but to fade away.
The Print Room’s latest exhibition called Village is an insightful exploration of this very notion. Affluent neighbourhoods are usually the death knell for their older and meagre counterparts. Their once vibrant existence is dwarfed and shadowed by the rampant developments around them.
