AFTER being shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize for Fiction earlier in the year but not winning, Malaysian author Tan Twan Eng gets another shot at a major literary prize.

The Garden Of Evening Mists, his novel about a young person who discovers the only Japanese garden in Malaya and its secretive creator, has been longlisted for the Booker’s newer cousin, the Man Asian Literary Prize.
