A library can change a girl’s world.

THE Sabah State Library used to stand in all its grandeur right in the heart of Kota Kinabalu. Years ago, the building looked like a formidable fortress that was as tempting as it was intimidating. On a hot day, the scrubs would fan the building, swaying in the afternoon breeze. The salty heat condensed instantly when coming into contact with the chilled air at the entrance, resulting in vapour that would float above patrons as if to cleanse them before allowing entry into this sanctuary of sorts.
