The title is kind of ominous when you realise that Bill Hodges, the retired cop and central figure of Stephen King’s trilogy of thrillers that began with Mr Mercedes and continued with Finders Keepers, has technically already reached his professional “end of watch”. (The term usually refers to a policeman’s end of shift or term of service, but extends to when one is killed in the line of duty, too.)
Oh, shizzle. This is a Stephen King book after all, and if he’s going to fill us with a sense of dread from the very title, who’s going to complain?
