Blinking to the beat of the music

Your eyes may be dancing to music without you noticing. A new study suggests we blink in sync to the beat, but only when you are truly listening. — 123rf

People unconsciously blink in time with the rhythm of music they are listening to, according to a study published in the journal PLOS Biology by researchers in China.

“We found that people’s spontaneous eye blinks fall in step with the musical beat – even without being told to move,” said study co-author and psychologist Prof Dr Du Yi of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, sharing her surprise at the phenomenon.
