The first school term holidays are coming (March 14 to 22) and if you have nothing planned for the family, here are some suggestions.

Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa in Selangor and The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat in Perak are offering a special package for Malaysians for stays at either resort between now and May 23.

A one-night stay at Sunway (sunwayhotels.com) goes from RM370 per room, with breakfast included. You get to check in as early as noon, and check out as late as 6pm at no extra charge. Guests will also be entitled to discounts for food and beverages at selected restaurants like The Resort Cafe and On-The-Rockz.

Attractions located near the hotel include the Sunway Lagoon theme park and Sunway Pyramid shopping centre.

Meanwhile, a two-night stay at The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat (thebanjaran.com) in Ipoh is priced from RM2,600 for two adults. This package is inclusive of daily breakfast for two, a 10% discount on food and beverages at Pomelo Restaurant, complimentary drinks at the bar, complimentary access passes to the Lost World of Tambun park and more.

However, the exclusive resort is only available for guests aged 12 years and older.

Down south in Johor, Legoland Malaysia Theme Park (legoland.com.my) is also offering special rates for Malaysian travellers – you can now get an annual pass at the price of a one-day ticket. With this annual pass, guests can enjoy 12 months of unlimited entries to Legoland (restricted dates apply).

Prices start at RM149 (for kids aged between three and 11, and seniors aged 60 and above) for a single-park pass; the most expensive pass is priced at RM313 (for guests aged between 12 and 59) for unlimited access to all three parks – Theme Park, Water Park and Sea Life.

Apart from that, folks who already have an annual pass can renew them at a discounted rate (20% off).

There are many activities that kids and adults can enjoy at the Legoland parks like meet-and-greet sessions, craft time and cooking demonstrations. If you’re looking for something truly magical, there’s always the underwater proposal package at Sea Life.

Yes, that’s right, you can now propose to your loved one in style at Sea Life. This package will get you a VIP tour of the park, complimentary day tickets, a rose bouquet and a premium gift, as well as the services of two divers who will help you hold up your “Will You Marry Me?” custom design sign underwater. For more information, check out the Legoland website.

Over in Penang, Escape offers up to 30% discount on tickets purchased online (escape.my). The park has many attractions for kids and adults, including the Banana Flip, Dunk Tank, Family Twister, Tubby Racer, Flying Lemur, Jungle Swinger and of course, the world’s longest water tube slide (1.111km).

There’s also Base Camp, where you get to sleep in tents in the jungle with family or friends, have a BBQ meal and participate in other activities. The tents are pitched within Escape park so there’s 24-hour security provided. Check out the website for reservations and additional information.
