Slow-Roasted Barbeque Prime Ribs – KAMARUL ARIFFIN/TheStar

Seasonal spread elevated from the ordinary to dynamic dining experience in KL

AS THE year winds down, the holiday spirit is high and the main agenda is to recharge and celebrate.

This festive season, The Living Room at The Westin Kuala Lumpur isn’t just serving a meal; it is putting on a culinary show by elevating the traditional Christmas spread from ordinary buffet to dynamic dining experience.

Forget simply picking food off a tray.

The highlight of the season is the Salmon Chaud Froid, served with a Sweet Mustard Dressing.

What makes this dish a true scene-stealer is the personalised service.

The chef himself rolls out the elegant gueridon trolley right to diners’ table, presenting this classic French preparation tableside.

This theatrical touch ensures your Salmon Chaud Froid doesn’t just taste like fine dining; it feels like it.

Equally striking is the Roasted Turducken Roulade, a marvel of ingenuity created for the indecisive diner.

As executive chef Arfizan Abdul Rahman explains, this dish is a perfect solution for those who want a bit of everything.

A chicken, duck and turkey are deboned, layered with savoury stuffing, rolled into a cylinder and perfectly roasted.

Arfizan insists these two headliners – the visually striking, textural salmon and the easy-to-eat roulade – are simply not to be missed.

“The roulade is also easy to eat, making the dining experience pleasurable. Guests have a lot more to choose from, including Asian cuisine,” he said.

The spread of appetisers features Home-Cured Beetroot Salmon Gravlax alongside classic terrine options like Pate en Croute and Dodine de Canard with Pistachio.

The salad station offers mesclun, baby spinach and wild rocket, with a vibrant selection of dressing including lemon vinaigrette and honey mustard.

Best of all? A parmesan wheel is available for you to toss your own, freshly grated Caesar salad.

Seafood enthusiasts will revel in the chilled selection of flower crab, slipper lobster, black mussels and oysters.

The aroma of the festive roasts is irresistible.

The classics are all here including Orange Glazed Roasted Turkey, Spiced Crusted Roasted Lamb Leg and Slow-Roasted Barbecue Prime Ribs.

They are served with all the comforting sides, from Yorkshire Pudding and caramelised vegetables to a variety of sauces, including cranberry and horseradish.

The dessert corner is a veritable Christmas village of treats.

The bakery showcases artisanal breads like stollen and gingerbread man, while the desserts feature everything from various Yule log cakes and mince pies to speciality cookies like Vanillekipferl and a rich Christmas Pudding with Vanilla Sauce.

The festive dinner buffet will be served on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day from 6pm to 10pm.

A lunch buffet is also available on Christmas Day from 12.30pm to 3pm.

The buffets are priced at RM218 nett per adult and RM109 nett per child.
