Zenrich Allied (Zenrich Wagyu), touted as the nation’s top supplier of Japanese wagyu, was recognised by Asean Records with the “Largest Annual Volume of Japanese Wagyu Imported in One Year” title.

Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup launched the event, held in conjunction with the grand opening of Wagyu by La Moon restaurant, Zenrich Wagyu’s flagship restaurant at The Greens, in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.

That record volume recognised by Asean Records was 192,000kg, a weight that is equivalent to 12.86 million slices or approximately 600 cattle.

Asean Records is a regional record-recognition platform established with consent from the AseanSec, celebrating measurable achievements across all 10 Asean member countries.

“This record is an example of the hard work of Malaysian companies like Zenrich Wagyu’s, our trade partners, and our commitment to bringing the best of the world to Malaysia while strengthening our place in the global food scene,” said Kurup.

“Such import volume also reinforces stronger agricultural trade ties with partners like Japan, apart from building a food culture that is as dynamic as our people.”

Japan Embassy in Malaysia deputy chief of mission Daisuke Nihei, who was present at the ceremony, said Malaysia’s appreciation of wagyu reflected the strength of Malaysia-Japan partnership.

“The Asean record achieved by Zenrich Wagyu is a great testament to that strength,” he said.

Zenrich Wagyu director Liven Chong said, “What started as a passion for quality has now become a powerful symbol of connection, bringing together communities, cultures, and cuisines in the most delicious way possible.”

Dishing up halal-certified A5 Miyazaki Wagyu, Wagyu by La Moon is helmed by Saburou Niitsu, a Japanese chef with 35 years’ experience.

Some appetising finds include yakiniku with smoky char, and paper-thin shabu-shabu slices swirling in broth or sweet-salty kick of sukiyaki.

Prices start from RM199 for all-you-can-eat meals.

“Every dish here is prepared with precision, respect for the ingredients, and desire to create something truly memorable for each guest,” said Niitsu.

The restaurant is open from 5pm to 1am daily.
