Salmon asam pedas featured among kampung favourites for buka puasa
FOR many, young and old, asam pedas is a tangy and spicy comfort food.
This Ramadan, the much enjoyed dish is served with a luxurious twist at Melting Pot Cafe in Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
Traditionally prepared with mackerel or stingray, the asam pedas here is made with salmon for a richer taste to the dish.
Concorde hotel’s Malay chef Arif Ibrahim said his team decided to use salmon to give customers something special and offer more value for money.
“Salmon goes very well with this cooking style and we have received good feedback from diners,” he said.
Asam Pedas Ikan Salmon is one of the many dishes featured on the buffet line.
The Ramadan promotion also features kampung favourites such as Asam Pedas Daging Tetel, Rendang Tok, Gulai Tunjang Lembu, Nangka Masak Lemak Ikan Bilis, Sambal Tumis Udang Petai, Pajeri Nenas, Siput Sedut Masak Lemak, Telur Itik Masak Lemak Belimbing Buluh and Gulai Ketam Nipah.
The restaurant’s signature Sup Gearbox and Sup Ekor are available too.
Local street food specialities such as Laksa Johor, Murtabak Ayam, Roti Canai Sarang Burung and satay with peanut sauce are other savoury finds on the buffet.
A selection of Thai food is featured as well, including Thai Stir-fry Mixed Vegetables, Thai Red Curry Prawns, Minced Basil Beef Pad Kra Pao and Seafood Tom Yum.
Chinese classics such as Kam Heong Lala Clams, Wok-fried Kung Pao Chicken, Beef with Ginger and Spring Onion, and Steamed Seabass Fish with Ginger Sauce are among dishes on the spread.
An assortment of seafood and meats will be grilled on the spot at the Teppan barbecue live station.
There will also be grilled whole lamb served with Pulao Rice, which is synonymous with many buka puasa buffets.
At the Western food corner, those looking for creamy pasta will find it served from a cheese wheel that has been fashioned into a giant bowl.
While there are many sweet treats to choose from, the must-try here for me is Serawa Durian.
Arif said the durian dessert is made with a mix of Musang King and D24 durian pulp and served with soft, sticky glutinous rice.
There will also be cendol and ais kacang to help you cool down at the end of the meal.
Available until March 30, the buffet is priced at RM198nett per person.
Tonight and on March 28 to 30, the price will be RM178nett per person.
There is a 50% discount for children aged six to 11 years old.
