Fusion menu in Sepang offers something for everyone

Some eateries incorporate a range of flavours and styles into their menu to suit a wide variety of palates.

Taking this approach this Ramadan is the culinary team at The Garden Cafe in Holiday Inn Sepang, Selangor.

The team has integrated Chinese and Indian flavours into the dishes as well as come up with a selection of Japanese and Western fare, in a bid to offer something for everyone.

Located about 15 minutes’ drive from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the hotel receives many international guests, with some being on a flight transit only.

As such, the culinary team led by executive chef Shaifful Anuar Mohd Salleh curated a fusion menu named “Warisan Muhibah” to appeal to a broad range of customers.

Shaifful said many of the dishes would have Malaysian flavours and lean more towards Malay cuisine.

“For starters, there are typical local items like kerabu and rojak pasembor, but there will also be Western salads and an assortment of maki rolls to choose from.

“Some of the highlights from the Malay menu are Roasted Percik Chicken, Malaysian Spiced Deep-Fried Chicken, Beef Rendang and Prawn Masak Lemak.” he said.

“On the fusion side there will be Mongolion Lamb, a Chinese stir-fry dish that is made with tenderised, marinated strips of lamb in a dark sweet-savoury sauce,” he added.

Shaifful said the fried chicken was made with spices used in Chicken 65.

“There is also the Baked Fish with Salsa, a Spanish dish for the Western palate,” he said.

Besides the main items, there is also chicken and beef satay, as well as a corner for guests to make their own bowl of curry noodles with their preferred condiments.

Diners should give the grill section a try too as it serves seafood, chicken, beef and Roasted Lamb Leg, with a variety of sauces to choose from.

Those keen on having more Western-style dishes can also opt for pasta to be cooked to their liking.

For desserts, there will be plenty of choice, from Malay traditional kuih to cakes and cookies.

Wash it all down with a variety of hot and cold drinks, including Malaysian favourites teh tarik and kopi tarik, besides Bandung Soya Cincau, Lychee Syrup, Lemonade Mint and iced lemon tea.

The buffet, which is available until April 8, will have three menus on rotation.

It is priced at RM118+ per adult and RM68+ per child (below 12 years old).
