Breaking fast with well-loved dishes from across M’sia

Ramadan dishes from all over Malaysia have been curated by the hotel’s chefs.

Iconic dishes from across Malaysia will be the main feature of “Santapan Rasa Sayang 2024” Ramadan buffet dinner at Avante Hotel in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya.

The hotel’s coffeehouse, Chek’s, will take diners on a gourmet journey around the country through dishes that showcase diverse ingredients and flavours of each state.

With the buffet menu rotated daily, diners can expect a variety of dishes.

This Ramadan season’s signature dishes have been crafted by chef de cuisine Arih Ahmad and junior Malay kitchen sous chef Yana.

Daging Bakar Masak Lemak, a Negri Sembilan classic, harks back to Arih’s fond memories of his mother’s cooking.

Spiced with lemongrass, bird’s eye chilli and turmeric, the smoked beef tenderloin (daging salai) is then paired with creamy coconut milk, a combination that melds spicy, rich and smoky flavours.

“Sotong Sumbat Bakar” from the east coast packs a spicy kick, with sambal belacan, dried chilli, coconut milk and lemongrass that are stuffed into fresh squid and grilled to perfection.

“Rendang Tok” is a Perak delicacy featuring beef tenderloin marinated in myriad spices such as kerisik, lemongrass, turmeric, garlic, onion, star anise, and cinnamon, which is then slow-cooked to maximise flavour.

Other buffet dishes from around the country include “Ketupat Palas” (Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Kelantan), “Ayam Percik” (Kelantan), “Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak” (Pahang) and “Roti John” (Sarawak).

Favourites such as satay, murtabak, nasi tomato, lontong and sup tulang will also be available.

The coffeehouse will also have a “Goreng-Goreng” (fry) stall where diners can watch chefs make fresh apam balik, pisang goreng, keledek goreng, cekodok, cucur bilis and cucur manis.

For those who prefer international dishes, there will be sushi, BBQ steak, Black Pepper Fried Crabs, Salted Egg Squid and Hong Kong Braised Yee Mee.

A mix of local and overseas delights such as kuih, ais batu kacang, local fruits, and assorted French pastries will see diners ending the night on a sweet note.

The buffet dinner is available from today until April 9, from 6.30pm to 10.30pm.

It is priced at RM198nett per adult, RM138nett per senior citizen and RM108nett per child.
