Comforting flavours in fusion mix

JomRisto’s Nasi Tomato Ayam Masak Merah comes with acar consisting of sliced cucumbers, pineapples and diced onions.

With the rising popularity of food delivery service platforms, the endless options available at a mere tap on our smartphone are leaving us spoilt for choice.

But with so many choices comes the hardest part – deciding which options are to our taste.

A chance discovery led to JomRisto, a restaurant offering comfort food that caters to Malaysian taste buds.

Options on the menu range from Western favourites to traditional Malay cuisine, with a daring fusion of Italian and Asian flavours thrown in for good measure.

One dish that will leave an impression is the Nasi Lemak Daging Rendang.

The coconut milk rice and flavourful beef rendang comes with a spicy home-made sambal that draws out the creamy texture in the rice with a pleasing pandan aroma.

It also comes with a fried egg as well as a generous serving of fried anchovies, adding crunch to each morsel.

Looking for something less spicy?

Then the Nasi Tomato Ayam Masak Merah should do the trick.

The tangy rice complements the succulent and juicy chicken in this dish, which also comes with acar consisting of sliced cucumbers, pineapples and diced onions.

Meanwhile, an intriguing selection of linguine dishes featuring Asian flavours should appeal to the more adventurous at heart.

The fusion options are served in a paper bowl and once you open the lid, you are greeted with an enticing aroma.

A favourite is the Creamy Tom Yam Seafood Linguine.

Soaked in sweet and sour tom yam flavour, a generous amount of seafood, such as prawns, clams and squid, is included in this offering.

The Chicken Aglio Olio Linguine is no less remarkable.

Each mouthful of the pasta dish is equally creamy, down to the last spoonful.

Topped with garlic and tender chicken slices, this dish is as satisfying as it is delicious.

Also not to be missed is the red-hot Kam Heong Vongole Linguine, which comes with a good amount of clams.

For a pleasant mix of spice and a hit of creamy goodness, opt for the Salted Egg Butter Chicken Rice.

The thick butter gravy enhances the taste of the fried chicken pieces, which get another layer a flavour when paired with a side of pickled chilli.

If you’re a pizza lover, there are several on the menu, including Chicken Tricapsico, Mushroom Caprese, Margherita Pizza, Diavola and Hawaiian Pizza.

But the standout for me is the Pepperoni Pizza, with its thin yet firm crust.

The ample serving of beef pepperoni, layered with mozzarella and tomato sauce, provides a pleasantly crunchy and cheesy mix.
