WHILE this Christmas and New Year celebrations may feel a little different, the feasts at Eastern and Oriental (E&O) Hotel in Penang will lose none of their delicious magic.
Instead of buffets, its Sarkies restaurant offers Unlimited
Ala Carte so revellers can still indulge while adhering to hygiene and distancing protocols necessitated by the current, global health situation.
Spreads will be just as vast and cheerful as in previous years. The only difference? There will be staff plating and serving the items so diners will not need to crowd around counters.
Menus vary each day, but appetisers such as seafood on ice, marinated salmon, festive terrines, assorted sushi and sashimi, cheeses, salads and soups ensure a lavish start.
Though celebrations have to be modest this year, the merry feeling returns when one bites into Traditional Roasted Turkey, Oven Baked Rib Eye, Marinated Boneless Lamb Leg or Chicken Roulade from the carvery section.
Other live cooking stations offer meats and seafood grilled ala minute, freshly made pasta, as well as local specialties like the signature E&O Roasted Duck.
Main dishes are a mix of festive favourites - with Boneless Chicken Fricasee, Lamb Navarin, Beef Stroganoff, Seafood Stew and
Lamb Osso Bucco among the many possibilities.
More holiday magic can be savoured in decadent desserts such as Strawberry Bavaroise, Morello Cherry Gateau, Chocolate Pear Chiboust Creme Tart, Yule Logs and Christmas Fruit Cake.
The Unlimited Ala Carte Christmas Eve Dinner is priced at RM150(adult) and RM80(child).
For Christmas Day, there is Lunch at RM120(A) and RM60(C), as well as Dinner at RM139(A) and RM70(C).
Bid adieu to a challenging 2020 with the New Year’s Eve Dinner at RM180(A) and RM90(C) children, then welcome a better 2021 with the New Year’s Day Lunch at RM99(A) and RM50(C).
Lunch is served noon to 2.30pm, and dinner 6.30pm to 10pm. Top up RM99 for free flow of house spirits, wines and beers, or RM160 for free flow of Prosecco.
Prefer to celebrate at home? Festive Goodies are available for takeaways from Dec 1 to Jan 1 – including Roasted Turkey (RM380), Java Tree Beef Wellington (RM490), Mini Mince Pies, Panettone and assorted Christmas cakes and cookies.
