Keto for weight-conscious diners

GOOD news for those looking to lose weight without drastically cutting back on food intake as Royale Chulan Penang has relaunched its Express Keto Meals.

The promotion received a good response from the public when it was introduced back in March and its return at the Sri Tanjung Cafe provides additional keto-friendly options to an improved all-day dining menu.

The ketogenic diet (or keto diet, for short), is a high-fat adequate protein but low-carbohydrate diet. This forces the body to break down proteins and fats to get energy, a process called ketosis.

Many studies have shown that this type of diet can help people lose weight and improve general wellbeing. However, those with medical conditions should consult their doctors first before going down the keto path.

The promotion is part of the hotel’s way of encouraging guests to live a healthier lifestyle while changing the common misconception that healthy food is tasteless and not filling.

The Express Keto Meals option features 14 different main course choices with both international and local flavours.

Among the many new keto-friendly additions are the Keto Crusted Lamb with Malaysian Ratatouille and Cauliflower Cake, Keto Oven Baked Seabass, Keto Balinese Chicken, Keto Seafood Egg Crepe Scallion with Avocado Tomato Olive Salsa, and Keto Coconut Beef Curry with Cauliflower Rice.

There are also some non-keto options. This affords flexibility in case there are some in your dining party who prefer to have regular items.

Besides selecting one’s main dish of choice, diners will also be able to select their preferred appetiser, soup and dessert.

The Express Keto Meals are available daily and priced from RM20+. They are available not just for dining in but also for takeaway and delivery (using the hotel’s own delivery service).

The service covers most areas of central Penang island except Bayan Lepas, Tanjung Bungah, Batu Ferringhi, Teluk Bahang and Balik Pulau.

It is available from 11am to 8pm daily, with a delivery charge of RM6 per trip.
