CELEBRATE the festive season at The Wine Shop (TWS) with loads of lipsmacking food and robust wines from all over the world.
The food offers hearty flavours and tantalising textural contrasts. The menu is sparklingly inventive with something new every so often.
To win tastebuds this time round are Iberico pork chop, Iberico pork burger, hand-rolled parma ham and rocket pizza, turkey ham bagel with fries, deli sandwich and breakfast platter.
The pork chop with its lovely marbling is mouthwatering. It is served with grilled asparagus and mashed potato and is sprinkled with roast pistachio flakes.
Sink your teeth into the luxurious texture of Iberico pork in a burger. The patty is prepared using lagrimas (meat between the ribs) which is tender and paired with cheese, onion, pickle, gherkin and mustard on brioche bread.
The hand-rolled pizza is a combination of parma ham, cheese and fresh rocket salad on a bed of tomato sauce while the turkey ham bagel with its melty cheese, ham, lettuce and sunny side up egg layered together on a bagel makes for a satisfying treat.
Diners can also try the tasty deli sandwich of Italian cured meat and cream cheese on focaccia bread and served with fries.
As for the breakfast platter, fill your tummy with flavoursome Johnsonville sausage, bacon, eggs, grilled tomato, potato wedges, sautéed mushroom and toast.
Look out for specials and other new items that are not included in the a la carte menu. These include Australia chilled T-bone steak, burger’s smoked house bacon and smoked pork rib with belly.
Perennial favourites include cheese platter, salted fish skin salad, wagyu beef burger and smoked duck pizza.
There are also a selection of pastas like spaghetti pesto and mains like the signature BBQ Iberico pork ribs, pork knuckle, salmon glaze teriyaki, and gammon ham steak.
Do consider the set lunch served from noon to 3pm daily. Depending on your choice of mains, the set is priced from RM18 to RM21 inclusive of dessert of the day and free flow of coffee/tea (self service).
There are three TWS outlets in Penang — Lintang Burmah in Pulau Tikus, Olive Residency (beside Olive Tree Hotel) in Bayan Lepas and Tanjung Bungah (Hillside).
The concept here is side-by-side dining and wine retail as well as a delicatessen stocked with imported gourmet meats and cheeses.
Open daily except Sundays, the operating hours for TWS Tanjung Bungah and TWS Bayan Lepas are from 10am to 1am and TWS Pulau Tikus from 9am to 1am.
