FOR the Chinese, the Lunar New Year revolves around five blessings — longevity, prosperity, peace, wisdom and virtue.

Celebrate the Year of the Rat by indulging in an exquisite meal with loved ones at The Westin Kuala Lumpur’s Five Sen5es Chinese restaurant.

Five Sen5es restaurant chef de cuisine Ron Lean Wen Seng and his culinary team have come up with dishes that will engage your five senses: sight, taste, scent, touch and sound.

The restaurant presents three exquisite set menus with a fresh yee sang selection and festive a la carte items that will leave your taste buds craving for more.

The meal sets are Happiness Reunion Chinese New Year Set Menu 1 for RM1,988 nett, Blessings Reunion Chinese New Year Set Menu 2 for RM2,188 nett and Abundance Reunion Chinese New Year Set Menu 3 for RM2,388 nett.

Each set menu comes with one selected complimentary house red and white wine bottle for a table of 10 diners.

One of the dishes on the menu is Lean’s Imperial Braised Crab Meat Soup with Fish Lips and Dried Scallops.

Having worked in the kitchen from the age of 15, Lean said he had been cooking Chinese food for 18 years.

“I highly recommend the Steamed Dragon Grouper with Fungus and Enoki Mushroom and Chilled Peach Gum Soup with Red Dates and Longan as both dishes are my favourites.

“The dishes comprise healthy ingredients with no additional preservatives in conjunction with Westin Wellness Fitness Programme, ” said Lean who previously worked with Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral and New World Hotel Petaling Jaya.

Other highlights include Stir-fried Prawns with Butter Milk Sauce, Braised Fish Maw, Mushroom and Bean Curd with Money Bag and new year specialities yee sang with a selection of premium fresh salmon and abalone.

The restaurant’s Chinese New Year loh sang offers three types of healthy and fresh yee sang selections from Smoked Salmon Yee Sang priced at RM198 nett and Abalone Slice Yee Sang for RM218 nett, with the combination of Abalone Slice and Salmon Yee Sang at RM238 nett for a la carte served with special plum sauce.

For dessert, there is Chilled Peach Gum Soup with Red Dates and Longan. It comes with crunchy Deep-fried Chinese Gold Cake on the side and mini rat-shaped egg tart topped on chocolate rice crispies.
