Weekend barbecue with a view

The grilled meat and seafood can be paired with the hotel’s homemade sauces.

FANCY a relaxing barbecue dinner, with an optional addition of cold beer to kick-start the weekend?

Impiana KLCC Hotel is presenting a Grill and Chill barbecue and beer buffet every Friday and Saturday at Cedar on 15, its rooftop restaurant and bar.

The new promotion offers diners a chance to wind down after a long working week, and even skip rush hour traffic as they tuck into a spread of meat and seafood.

As a bonus, the rooftop restaurant offers a beautiful view of the Kuala Lumpur city skyline which diners can soak in as they enjoy their dinner.

Those who want to enjoy the city view can sit near the bar, while those who prefer eating in air-conditioned comfort can sit indoors. Both areas seat about 100 people in total.

Diners can begin their meal with a selection of salads, including Waldorf Salad, Potato Salad with Eggs and Scallion and coleslaw.

To warm up the tummy, the soup section offers Cream of Roasted Pumpkin Soup with croutons on Fridays and Seafood Chowder with Garlic Crostini on Saturdays.

The grill pit offers meat and seafood dishes such as BBQ Beef Ribs with Pineapple, Rosemary and Garlic Lamb Shoulder, Chilli Coriander Spiced XO Prawn Skewers, Herb Lemon Marinated Blue Emerald Fish, Grilled Butter Garlic Blue Crab, BBQ Chicken with Smoked Honey and Mixed Grill Sausages with Onions and Tomatoes.

The Fish Brochettes with Onions, featuring chunks of snow fish on a skewer, was a personal favourite. The sweetness of the fish was enhanced with slices of onions and bell peppers.

Also available is a range of popular side dishes, such as butter mashed potatoes, sauteed vegetables, hand-cut fries (on Fridays) and mac and cheese (on Saturdays).

The barbecue spread offers a fair variety of meat and seafood — 10 in total, including sausages — according to hotel sous chef Muhammad Aliuddin Musthafa.

“All the proteins feature in-house marinades, ” he said.

“We also have a table of close to 20 sauces, which diners can pair their proteins and sides with.”

These include housemade sauces such as enchiladas ranchos, creamy jalapeno, Thai chilli coriander, pesto, ponzu, mint raita, raw onion relish, tomato salsa and garlic paprika aioli.

Aliuddin personally recommends that the lamb shoulder be paired with chimichurri sauce.

For desserts, there are assorted French pastries, Opera Cake, Chocolate Mousse, Bread and Butter Pudding with Vanilla Sauce as well as a selection of Baskin Robbins ice cream.

“This is the first time we are introducing a barbecue buffet, so we welcome feedback on the dishes or how we can improve the promotion, ” said Aliuddin.

“If there is enough demand from customers, we can even expand the range of meat and seafood.”

The Grill and Chill barbecue buffet is priced at RM128+ per person and served from 7pm to 11pm.

The beer buffet is priced at RM79+ per person and available from 6pm to 8pm.
