Making Italian dining worth the experience

DINING on a gastronomic Italian meal with a scenic view of the city is something to look forward to in Johor Baru.

Diners at Tosca Italian Trattoria in DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Baru are invited to savour a spread of Italian dishes prepared from the heart.

Located on the 13th floor of the hotel in the heart of Johor’s capital city, the restaurant offers a combination of quality food and an ambience to match.

Hotel executive chef Hassan Mohammed said Tosca had improved on its menu by including Italian dishes made with fresh quality ingredients.

“We focus as much as possible on using local vegetables and seafood. At the heart of good food is the quality of its ingredients.

“With this refreshed menu, we hope that guests get to enjoy Italian food made with the very best of what our land and sea have to offer,” he said.

Hassan said that by focusing on local ingredients, the culinary team was lending its support to local farmers and fishermen while promoting environmental awareness.

“Locally grown food is fresh, provides health benefits and helps reduce environmental impact.

“By using local produce, we are helping to bring the community closer.

“We are also giving local farmers and fishermen the opportunity to highlight their produce and make a fresh difference to the way we present our food,” he said.

Hassan added that imported ingredients from Italy, New Zealand, Australia and the US were also used on the menu.

“As the restaurant is a place to go to for Italian cuisine, we also have ingredients imported from Italy such as cheese.

“Signature dry-aged meats too are imported from countries such as Australia, New Zealand and the United States,” he elaborated.

He said the restaurant placed emphasis on catering to various dietary restrictions and customers’ preferences.

“We have gluten-free pasta, vegetarian dishes and low-carbohydrate options for our customers,” he said.

Besides dry-aged meats, the must-tries are oven-roasted local giant prawns, fisherman’s soup, Tosca’s signature Wagyu beef burger and pizzas.

Scottish salmon, local seabass, a variety of pasta, buffalo mozzarella, herb salad and beef carpaccio are also on the menu.

Panna cotta, tiramisu, Cameron Highland Apple Crumble and gelato are among the dessert highlights.
