Charming diners with nasi arab

The highly popular nasi arab at Shahzan Hotel Kuantan.

MANDY rice, or better known as nasi arab locally, is an aromatic Middle Eastern meal that is perfect for the breaking of fast.

It is the main attraction in the Ramadan buffet at Shahzan Hotel in Kuantan, Pahang.

Hotel sous chef Mohd Helmi M. Thani said nasi arab, prepared using a variety of herbs and spices and served with tender chicken, was popular with diners.

“This is in addition to the more than 50 traditional local dishes and seasonal specialities, so there is something for everyone.”

Another must-try, he said, was the kambing bakar with a secret-recipe marinade that is grilled to perfection.

“You can also have the juicy lamb slices with nasi arab,” he added.

Kebab Celup features a selection of fresh fishballs, squidballs and fishcakes on skewers that are dipped into boiling soup.

“Use sweet sauce, sriracha sauce and chillies for added flavour,” said Helmi.

Other highlights include Ayam Goreng Berempah, Daging Masak Hitam, Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak, Sotong Telur Masin and Tauhu Ayam Cincang.

End your meal with serawa durian served warm with glutinous rice.

The buffet, available until May 2, is from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. It is priced at RM65 per adult and RM38 per child aged between five and 11. — By SIMON KHOO
