AT LEAST one in four Malaysians is affected by cancer.
This was according to Johor Baru Breast Cancer Support Group (BCSG) president Datin Dr Ho Eu Len, who also said that breast cancer was the most common form of the disease affecting women in the country.
“Bringing awareness to breast cancer is definitely an important step towards a healthy society,” she said.
As such, Johor Baru BCSG is partnering with Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast for a virtual breast cancer awareness sharing session on Oct 25.
The session will be hosted on Facebook Live from 4.30pm to 5.45pm, with guest speakers from various fields, including medical professionals, nutritionists and breast cancer survivors.
The virtual sharing session is part of Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast’s 22nd annual Pinktober campaign, organised to support breast cancer awareness and research.
Hotel general manager Murray Aitken said proceeds from the campaign would benefit Johor Baru BCSG and its efforts to provide affordable silicone breast prostheses to breast cancer patients and survivors.
“The campaign is in line with our brand’s support towards Breast Cancer Awareness Month, with the goal of lending a hand to the people and communities who need it most.
“It is a privilege to bring our guests and community members together through fundraising events that deliver a unifying message of strength, hope and awareness for those affected by this disease,” he said.
To celebrate the unwavering strength of women battling breast cancer, five breast cancer survivors would also be invited to experience an all-inclusive two-night stay at the hotel, he added.
The hotel’s fundraising efforts include selling two uniquely designed T-shirts for Pinktober, a special Pinktober hotel stay package, relaxing spa treatments as well as pink-themed food and beverage offers.
Diners can show their support by having a pink-themed afternoon tea set priced at RM120+ for two, a box of eight Munchkins Pink Doughnuts at RM15+ or a glass of Rose Fizz Mocktail at RM10+.
All promotions are available throughout this month, where 10% of the proceeds would be channelled to Johor Baru BCSG.
