A DELIGHTFUL mix of seafood and poultry delicacies normally take centre stage at the dining table during Chinese New Year.
But if you want a meal with a bit more bite, consider adding lamb to your menu.
Roast lamb shoulder in particular makes for a mouth-watering addition to welcome the Year of the Ox.
Sunway Resort’s kicks off its lunar new year celebration with a menu filled with symbolic ingredients and dishes deemed prosperous that include lamb shoulder steak.
This chef’s signature, is tender and best eaten with a special home-made honey glazed sauce.
Garlic, shallots, parsley and other herbs are used to marinade the lamb shoulder steaks for about an hour.
They are then pan-fried for a few minutes and baked to perfection in the oven.
Roasted Black Truffle Duck is another unique recipe curated for diners at Resort Cafe.
Marinated in a special stock filled with herbs for two hours, the bird is then stuffed with the luxurious truffle paste, shallots, fresh orange and black garlic before being roasted. The chef’s signature plum sauce is served alongside.
The black truffle duck, priced at RM188nett (actual price RM228) per bird, is available for a limited time only.
Both the roast lamb and duck dishes are paired together with other authentic and traditional ones offered in the “Prosperous Beginnings” menus until Feb 28.
Set menus and a la carte options are available for pick-up, delivery or dine-in.
Diners can select from a range of dishes in the “Huat-To-You” menu that offers Chinese delicacies and desserts or from the family set menu that serves three to eight persons. This includes the must-have yee sang.
One of Resort Cafe’s yee sang comes with luxurious and generous portion of deep-fried crispy soft-shell crab for that extra punch that diners always look for.
For those who prefer to select and combine their favourite Chinese New Year dishes, the “Huat-To-You” a la carte menu has a mix of chef’s signature dishes and local favourites.
The signature dishes include Roast Duck Marinated in fresh herbs and spices, Braised 6-Headed South American Abalone, Braised Sea Cucumber stuffed with Seafood Treasure, Chef’s Special Roasted Lamb Shoulder Steak, Deep-fried King Tiger Prawns, Slow-stewed Beef Short Ribs and Tendon on E-Fu Noodle and Fried Long-grain Rice with Waxed Meat and Fluffy Yam.
The menu also includes desserts such as Pineapple Tart, Orange and Red Velvet CNY Cake, Tang Yuan and more.
The Family Set Menus priced at RM288nett each, consists of five dishes including the yee sang, options of chicken, lamb and fish, and a choice of waxed meat rice such as the Hong Kong-style Waxed Meat Glutinous Rice, Fried Rice with Waxed Meat and Chicken Floss and Waxed Meat Fried Rice.
The “Abundance Set” is priced at RM488 nett (six to eight persons), while the “Fortune Set” is RM628 nett and “Prosperous Set” is priced RM768nett.
Resort Cafe’s set lunch-to-go, from Monday to Friday between 11.30am and 3pm, serves a choice of salad or soup, a main dish and dessert for RM45 nett per person.
Diners can also get their yee sang via Resort Cafe’s drive-through takeaway counter located outside the restaurant on the main street of Persiaran Lagoon.
It comes in six variations with a choice of three sauces available in full and half portions with healthy options as well. This requires a pre-order of two hours in advance.
The Chinese New Year Prosperous Feasting and yee sang offerings are available only at Sunway Resort for self-pick up or delivery.
All orders require a minimum of 24 hours pre-order in advance. Last delivery or pick-up is by 8pm. Sunway Pals members can enjoy 10% off their total food bill.
Food is neatly packed in aluminium containers to prevent spillage and preserve heat. These can also be reheated in the conventional oven.
