My family can now add “enjoying a sumptuous Ramadan takeaway spread at home” to our list — courtesy of The Resort Cafe at Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa, Bandar Sunway, Selangor.

The hotel’s annual Ramadan promotion themed “Jemput Makan” has been turned into a Bazaar-To-Go format.

The takeaway menu offers over 70 traditional and speciality dishes that can be delivered and enjoyed in the comfort of one’s home.

The Selera Kampung set menu offers a choice of four main courses and two vegetables.

It is accompanied with appetisers such as beef and chicken satay, dates, some Malay sweets, a selection of sambal and two types of rice — steamed white and Arabic spiced.

For the main course, diners can choose from ingredients such as beef, lamb, chicken, green mussels, fish, squid and prawn, then have them cooked in styles such as rendang, gulai, asam pedas, buttermilk, lemak cili api, kicap or sambal.Gulai Itik Salai (Smoked Duck Curry) is a Kuala Pilah speciality and one of the featured dishes in the a la carte menu.Gulai Itik Salai (Smoked Duck Curry) is a Kuala Pilah speciality and one of the featured dishes in the a la carte menu.

The set menu is priced at RM238 nett and serves three to four people.

The set delivered to my family featured Beef Stir-Fried Dendeng Style, Green Mussels Kam Heong Style, Fish Head Curry, Freshwater Prawns in Chilli Paste, Chinese Braised Mixed Vegetables and Broccoli with Salted Fish.

The beef dish was the unanimous favourite as the meat was tender.

The portions for all dishes were generous. The freshwater prawns came in large sizes, while the other dishes were more than enough to feed my family of four in a single sitting.

The dishes were all packed in aluminium foil containers, so they were easy to unpack, serve and dispose.

The delivery included cutlery and serviettes, though these were not necessary since we were eating at home.

The hotel’s Bazaar-To-Go menu also offers an a la carte section featuring a selection of chef’s signature dishes and festive favourites.
