The golden roast turkey is a showstopper.

IT’S time once again for turkey to be in the spotlight.

A perfectly roasted turkey with all its accompaniments makes a beautiful centrepiece for the festive table.

But, as home cooks will know, turning out the perfect roast is no easy feat, especially with the added pressure of entertaining during the festive season.

So why slave over a hot oven and worry about the “done-ness” of the turkey when you can let someone else do the cooking for you?At Royale Chulan Seremban’s Asiatique Restaurant, guests can choose to savour their roast turkey in-house or have it to go at RM350 nett per bird.

The roasted-to-golden-perfection turkey is on the restaurant’s menu for Christmas Eve dinner, as well as for brunch and dinner on Christmas Day.

Executive chef Rahim Awang said the hotel’s fail-safe method of preparing roast turkey includes frequently basting the bird to ensure the meat stays juicy.

“Getting the cooking time right is essential. The meat becomes tough and stringy when overcooked, and under-cooking is a strict no-no.

“To ensure the meat is nice and moist, we have to keep basting the turkey throughout the cooking

process,” he said.

The hotel serves its roast turkey with the traditional chestnut stuffing, giblet gravy and cranberry sauce.

Diners who do not fancy turkey can sink their teeth into roast prime rib for Christmas Eve dinner and roast lamb leg for Christmas brunch.

The prime rib imported from New Zealand, is marinated with herbs and spices and slow-roasted for about an hour until fork-

tender.

The extensive festive menu also includes a variety of Asian favourites such as noodles, wok-fried teriyaki prawns and tandoori chicken.

An array of decadent festive desserts is available in the buffet too. They include stollen (cake-like bread with dried fruit), yule log, chestnut caramel pudding and pavlova.

Adding to the season’s joy, carollers will serenade guests at the grand concourse on Christmas Eve at 7pm.

The Christmas Eve and Christmas buffet dinners from 6.30pm to 10.30pm are priced at RM98nett (per adult) and RM50nett (per child), while the Christmas Brunch from noon to 4pm is priced at RM75nett (adult) and RM38nett (child). There are clown performance and games for children during brunch.
