FRESH from the market to the grill, a scrumptious seafood barbecue feast is a good way to spice up the weekend.

At Spices in Furama Bukit Bintang Hotel, the Seafood Mania BBQ buffet features an extensive range of seafood and meat for diners.

Enjoy grilled pomfret, stingray and mackerel as well as shellfish like tiger prawns, mussels and clams. These are rubbed with a spicy marinade to enhance the flavours.

Executive chef Mohd Salsabil Mohd Salim said the ingredients were sourced, daily, from the wet markets and wholesalers.

“We go the extra mile in doing this to offer a good selection at the buffet table.

“Meat lovers can look forward to chicken, lamb and beef at the buffet, ” he said.

Setting the benchmark is the grilled stingray cooked to perfection.

The flesh is juicy and soft, and adding a squeeze of fresh lime juice enhances its flavour.

The pomfret was a surprise addition at the buffet as we do not often see this on a barbecue menu.

Despite a slightly charred surface, the fish was a delight as the flesh was not too dry.

The plump and sweet grilled squid was another highlight while the tiger prawns had a crunchy texture.

Diners can also indulge in chicken wings, chicken and beef satay, grilled lamb and corn on the cob.

The generous and chunky satay paired well with the sweetish peanut sauce with its hint of spiciness.

The grilled lamb with either the black pepper or mushroom sauces is recommended too.

Aside from grilled items, there are other dishes such as tom yam fried rice, fried noodles, five-spice fried chicken as well as glazed vegetables and baked potatoes.

The Seafood Mania BBQ priced at RM65+ per person is available on Friday and Saturday, from 6.30pm to 10.30pm

Outdoor poolside seating is available upon request.

The existing Seafood Mania offering is also served at lunchtime as part of Spices’ Lunch With A Punch menu for RM15.90+ per person, where diners can enjoy a semi-buffet with five main courses to choose from.

Other main courses are grilled chicken chop, mee goreng mamak, Indian chicken tiffin and spaghetti carbonara.
