Tactfully named Sauce of Soul (SOS), the emphasis here is on the delicious range of homemade sauces to complement the diverse selection of desserts, beverages and mains.
Derived from fresh and natural ingredients, with most of the greens and herbs harvested from PGC’s very own chemical-free vegetable plots, the creations are indeed delights with every bite.
Nestled amidst the splendour of the golf course, the all-glass outlet is also popular for its exclusive handcrafted chocolates that are ideal as gift sets.
PGC food and beverage director C.K. Ong said SOS is the rebranding of the renowned Chocolate Passion that was established in Penang in 2011.
“We are continuing the passion with an all-improved menu, especially our signature single origin hot chocolate brewed from the famous Amelonado beans of Sao Tome,” he said, adding that the cafe is pork-free and alcohol-free.
Start off with delectable whole-day breakfast offerings such as sunflower seed norlander bread with butter and jam, BBQ pulled chicken baguette, ham and cheese quiche, and chicken floss charcoal sandwich.
Moving on to mains like beef burger with beetroot chutney, nasi lemak chocolate pizza, grilled or oven-baked chicken with a sauce of your choice, and pandan curry egg noodle soup.
The nasi lemak pizza is a must-try with its toasted chocolate bread base topped with yummy spicy sambal, fried anchovies, roasted peanuts and hard-boiled eggs.
Drool over the extensive pasta choices comprising snow crab and garlic squid ink pasta, okra and smoked duck aglio olio, beef meatball chocolate pasta, prawn and sambal spaghetti and creamy seafood salted egg vermicelli.
More appetising options consist of assam tomyam egg noodle soup, giant ‘rotty’ curry chicken, cheese crisps and classic hummus, and white chocolate spicy curry chicken.
There are also salads like fruit and quinoa, yogurt and cucumber, and chicken pesto with pine nuts as well as fries with curry or wasabi mayo, honey chipotle or sriracha ranch.
Not to be missed are of course the famous desserts such as the signature chocolate bomb and chocolate fondue, chocolate molten cake, churros and affogato.
There are also a wide selection of homemade cakes and freshly baked breads at the display counters.
Do give the Phong Phong cake, coated with chicken floss and stuffed with homemade mayo sauce, a shot!
To complement is a list of refreshing beverages including smoky hot chocolate, iced coffee, passion fruit sparkling water, smoothies n cocktail, coffee and tea.
Located just beside the guardhouse at the main entrance to PGC, SOS is open from 9am to 9pm daily.
