Chuggington: Traintastic Crew

Running time: 56 minutes

This is definitely an enjoyable DVD to watch, not just for the little ones but for parents as well. The trains chug along cheerfully and trains and humans can talk to each other. Together, they form the community in Chuggington.

This DVD is mainly about the three trainee trains – Brewster, Koko and Wilson – who need to learn a few lessons on timing, teamwork, being helpful and even humility.

There are seven episodes on this DVD:

Late Again Eddie – Eddie is always late because he lives outside of Chuggington. To help him, the trains find a place where Eddie can stay within Chuggington.

Inspector Emery – The train depot is going to be inspected by a fussy inspector. The trains are all in a huff trying to get the depot spick and span before the inspector arrives. Emery, who is off that day, has nothing to do and ends up making a mess of things when he gets in everyone's way.

Outward Bound Olwin – The three trainee trains are learning their navigational skills from Olwin. They're young and brash and she's old and still treats them like babies. When she falls asleep, they set off on their own adventure. A fog soon sets in and the three trainees must remember what Olwin taught them to find their way back.

Puffer Pete's Big Show – It's Pete's 150th anniversary and the trains are excited as the mayor has planned a party. It's up to the trainees to do a dance performance – but first they must learn to work together!

Helping Wheels Badge, Running on Time Badge, and Knowing Where You're Going Badge are all about the trainees learning to work together to help others, learning to time themselves and reading the signs to know where they're going.

If your child loves trains, he'll probably love this. Personally, I find Chuggington more entertaining and up-to-date than Thomas & Friends. Maybe because this is CGI animation and Thomas uses stop-motion animation.

The characters are lively and cheerful and there's usually a lesson to be learnt in each episode – which only runs for about eight minutes.

Enjoyable and recommended. - Review by S.N.
