Take a quick glance at this year’s nominees for the Golden Globe Awards and at first impression, it may well appear as if the folks behind the nominations (that would be the members of Hollywood Foreign Press Association) were seemingly unable to look beyond their favourite television shows.  

Pointing the finger at them for this outcome may be a little harsh – even though the list does include new critically-acclaimed shows like Heroes, Ugly Betty and Dexter, the fact remains that the returning favourites do outnumber new shows.
