Punk didn’t exactly die last October but it did lose its spiritual home – the CBGB club in New York – after a protracted rent dispute. The last call at the bar was a heartbreaking one and as the doors were boarded up, there went 33 years of underground rock memories associated with some of New York’s most revered icons – Patti Smith, Television, Ramones, Blondie, Talking Heads – alongside thousands of others that set the scene for punk, art rock and beyond.
