A twist of Placebo

Placebo: Meds (EMI)

Brian Molko and gang may have gender confusing looks but musically, the trio is spot on. Placebo knows what it wants when it comes to the music it makes, which is most often enough darkly perverse and twisted. The band knows exactly how to convey its feelings and messages, and then complement them with the right rhythms and beats. Listening to Meds, you can’t help but to dig out old Placebo albums and revisit all the tracks continuously in one lovely evening. Molko is on top of his game on this record. Tracks include Space Monkey, Follow the Cops Back Home, Because I Want You, Pierrot the Clown, Broken Promise (featuring R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe) and Song to Say Goodbye.
