A song for Teresa

While September Tale might not have been the late Teresa Teng’s most universally known tune, it was nevertheless very much reflective of the legend’s less than rosy personal life.

The eternal darling of Chinese pop music had a voice so sweet, so mellifluous that no one would have ever imagined that Teng had to battle many personal demons that besieged her at various stages of her career – rumours about her unsuccessful relationships, drug abuse and sexuality. Through it all, Teng held her head high and sang her way into the hearts of Chinese music lovers.
