AIM, stripped of soul

The Anugerah Industri Muzik 2005, the nation's biggest music awards show, rolls out tomorrow night and pop diva Siti Nurhaliza leads the field with eight nominations. She is not only the show’s main superstar draw, but also contemporary Malay pop music's brightest hope for an international breakthrough.

WITH great fanfare, the Anugerah Industri Muzik 2005 (AIM) awards arrives tomorrow evening at Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur, and quite predictably all the pop celebrity drama and euphoria will be savoured by those concerned and milked by the media. Tellingly, the AIM hype will also be quickly forgotten by next week.
