A historical concert to aid victims of natural disasters

For the first time in local concert history, a host of international stars will descend on Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur en masse today for a four-hour marathon fest. Featuring the best of West and East, the star-studded line-up include the Backstreet Boys, Black Eyed Peas, Boyz II Men, Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, Anuar Zain, Dayang Nurfaizah, Innuendo, Sheila Majid, Jackie Chan and Nicholas Tse. The Force of Nature concert is a classic case of funds from fun. While Malaysians and the rest of the world have been generous, contributions have reached a plateau and it is time for fund-raising rather than outright donations.

The concert, the first of its kind in Malaysia on such a colossal scale, is the brainchild of Scott Kramer of Los Angeles and Kuala Lumpur based Force of Nature Aid Foundation. With Kamaluddin Abdullah Badawi, son of Malaysian Prime Minister as a co-founder together with billionaire publisher Rupert Murdoch and Harvey Weinstein, Force of Nature Aid Foundation is a newly established charity for aid relief for victims of natural disasters like the recent tsunami.
