A SUPERHERO within a superhero film. That is what the latest instalment of the Fantastic Four franchise – Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer – is about, among other things.  

Comic book to film adaptations are reaching a frenzy in Hollywood. The sequel to Fantastic Four follows the path of the original Fantastic Four comic book series in the 1960s, when the Silver Surfer was first introduced. So, instead of giving the sinewy alien superhero his own film, the Silver Surfer gets to shine like it did originally in the comics, all those decades ago.
