Guillermo del Toro is in negotiations to develop and direct Killing on Carnival Row, a dark fantasy for New Line Cinema. Set in a mystical and dark city filled with humans, fairies and other creatures, the story centres on a police detective investigating a series of murders against the fairies. The detective becomes the prime suspect and must find the real killer to clear his name.
Del Toro is in the midst of deciding what his next directorial project will be. The candidates under consideration include Hellboy 2, Halo and Carnival Row. The filmmaker is known for his fantasy work in English and Spanish. He has worked for New Line before, helming the studio’s 2002 hit Blade II.
