ON the first night, I am seated about two metres away from Andie MacDowell so I spend most of the evening eavesdropping. Her conversation, strangely, centres on cosmetic surgery. So when we meet the next day at Harry Winston Rare Timepieces Club at Timeo Hotel in Taormina on the island of Sicily, I feel embolden to broach the topic, often considered an instant conversation-killer.  

MacDowell looks gorgeous in make-up and does not bother to cover the lines around her eyes in broad daylight. It is obvious no scalpel has touched her face as her little wrinkles prove. She is there to attend the recent Taormina Film Festival, Italy’s second oldest such fest, sponsored by famed jeweller Harry Winston.
