George Lucas, 61, is finally feeling a sense of relief. For the last 20 years he's always felt worried that something would go wrong or that he would never finish his Star Wars project, but finally that sense of anxiety and concern has vanished. He is content to have completed all the episodes and to have the entire story told in a way that he's very happy about.
And what's next on the cards? According to Lucas, it's time for a vacation. Although he has been planning to produce a movie about African-American fighter pilots during World War II, as well as looking into a variety of possibilities for television projects. Meanwhile, the Internet Movie Database has already listed a fourth instalment of the Indiana Jones saga for which Lucas's name is listed under writing credits. And as for directing, he hopes to return to experimental filmmaking. His first movies like THX 1138 and American Graffiti weren't traditional films, he says, they told non-linear stories and relied very heavily on sound and image working together to create an experience.
