FOR interior flooring solutions company Floor Culture, getting drivers to arrive at a client’s location on time was a challenge.
“In our business, being on time is crucial as our customers have to oversee the installation of the flooring and the work schedule is pre-arranged in order not to disrupt their operations.
“However, we noticed that within our fleet of delivery vehicles, there were unexplained cases of late arrivals and we had difficulty determining where they were at any given point in time,” said Jerry Tan, director for Floor Culture Holdings Sdn Bhd.
Customer satisfaction was at an all-time low and something had to be done.
Tan shopped around for a solution until he came across iFleet from Digi, an intelligent vehicle tracking system for commercial vehicles that enables any type of business to track their fleet in real-time.
“The plans were affordably priced with decent options, so we decided to go ahead and install iFleet in all our delivery vehicles,” he said.
Floor Culture’s delivery vehicles were installed with the all-in-one fleet tracking solution and Tan noted a positive uplift to the business almost immediately.
iFleet’s GPS function provided its drivers with better route identification. This reduced late arrivals by as much as 50%, which significantly increased customer satisfaction.
Additionally, the company was now able to track its vehicles’ speeds and idling times.
“Drivers behave better on the roads,” said Tan.
“If they drive too fast, the heavy wooden flooring planks might shift around and damage the vehicle. Plus, I can now extend the life span of my vehicles’ tires from 12 months up to two years,” he added.
Better driving practices also lead to better fuel savings, up to 20% per month, noted Tan.
With less fuel used, emissions are lower as well and Tan sees this as a positive knock-on effect to their company’s mission to be friendlier to the environment, which is also in line with their efforts to offer more eco-friendly products to their customers.
The acid test for iFleet came when one of Floor Culture’s delivery vehicle went off grid.
“When our employees reach a customer’s site, sometimes they leave their vehicle unattended and in this case, someone had drove off in it.
“We called the iFleet team and they managed to locate the vehicle in less than an hour,” a delighted Tan shared.
There were also some other unexpected benefits.
“Our team has much better morale now as iFleet has helped us to define each person’s role and responsibilities within the company. Any issues with drivers can be rectified immediately. In the past, these issues could not be resolved easily,” he added.
“The beauty of iFleet lies in its ability to flex across different types of businesses to create not only immediate cost efficiencies but also unintended, new windows of opportunities for customers as their businesses evolve in the future.
“iFleet’s intelligence comes to the fore through analytics and it is through this analysis of data that we are helping more SMEs grow their business with advanced digital solutions,” said Praveen Rajan, Digi’s chief digital officer.
Subscribers will receive one plan that takes care of hardware, software and connectivity at one go, together with technology that works to bring immediate benefits to their business.
For businesses that require tracking beyond Malaysia, customers are able to add on a roaming option and track their fleet in real time in Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. Additionally, premium on-call and on-site support are also available as an add-on option, to provide customers with peace of mind.
