The SEA CONNECT – Creative Conference, in its second year, saw a bigger turnout this year with 900 participants from 64 institutions.
The conference, organised by Acestar Sdn Bhd, is aimed at building a platform to connect the creative industry and bring creative talent back to Malaysia. Acestar chief executive officer Natalie Sit hopes their efforts will turn Malaysia into a regional hub for the creative industry.
The conference was themed ‘Leadership in Creativity’ to inspire more individuals from the industry to step up and make a difference.
At the event, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) director of sharing economy ecosystem division Darzy Norhalim noted Acestar’s role in developing the industry, in particular through their collaboration on the Glow programme.
The Glow programme aims to create a vibrant freelance economy ecosystem that will position online freelancing as an alternative form of employment for Malaysians. It is targeted at university students, unemployed graduates, young professionals, degree-holder housewives, retrenched workers, and retirees.
In conjunction with the conference, Acestar also announced the Top 30 winners of the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) Championship Malaysia 2018. This competition is a step towards the ACA World Championship 2018 in Orlando, Florida, which will be held on July 29-August 1. The global competition identifies the next generation of design professionals using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign.
The Malaysian championship is Acestar’s annual CSR initiative to boost local creative talents.
Over the past two years, Acestar has been sponsoring the first prize winner to represent Malaysia in the ACA World Championship. This year, redONE Network has joined in to also sponsor the second prize winner to the US.
Acestar is a Platinum Partner of Adobe Malaysia.
