THE Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Asfar Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Fursan Convention & Exhibition to promote and enhance umrah travel to Saudi Arabia through networking, marketing and promotional activities between travel agents of both countries.
The MoU signing between MATTA, Asfar Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Fursan Convention & Exhibition was done by MATTA umrah and haj vice-president Shahrulnezam Mohd Daud, Asfar Kingdom deputy chairman Samir Abdul Fatani and Fursan Convention & Exhibition chairman Zairul Annuar Mohd Zin.
The purpose of the MoU was to organise the first Umrah B2B session on July 2 in Kuala Lumpur.
There are about one million pilgrims who perform their umrah and haj yearly from the region, and MATTA is taking this opportunity to shape the umrah travel and facilitate the business of bumiputera tour operators when they meet with Saudi Arabia counterparts.
Shahrulnezam said this was an exciting collaboration for both parties and it would enhance umrah travel, providing more business opportunities for the members to exchange ideas and network, build partnerships and expand their business market.
“With this MoU, we will be able to raise the cooperation level between MATTA, Asfar Kingdom, Saudi Arabia and Fursan Convention & Exhibition and leverage on each other’s technical knowledge and expertise for the expansion and growth of both nations’ travel and tourism industry,” he added.
