IMAGINE squinting and trying to figure out the numbers on your smartphone or struggling to read a book because you cannot see the words. This is presbyopia, an inability to see things clearly up close.
Today, the modern generation has different vision requirements as they need to multi-task, as they are constantly shifting their view between gadgets, computers and print materials.
To meet the needs of people who don’t want to be hindered by the quality of their vision, Essilor introduced its latest Varilux X series, a new premium progressive lens designed to meet multiple near vision needs within arm’s reach.
During the launch at Glasshouse @ Seputeh, Kuala Lumpur, guests were given a presentation by Essilor professional services and business development manager Soh Wei Zhi on the innovation.
“With the Varilux X series progressive lens, presbyopes can now swap between screens comfortably and seamlessly capture every detail within arm’s reach with high precision, extending their sharp vision by 100% in width and in length.
“They will enjoy outstanding sharpness, continuous vision and fluidity from near to far without having to adjust their heads and reading distance to see sharply at close view,” he explained.
Developed using a new revolutionary technology called Xtred, this new premium progressive lens provides a 75% match with wearer’s visual needs, with focused efforts on vision at arm’s length, a significant improvement of 59% compared with other premium progressive lens, he added.
Additionally, the new in-store lens personalisation tool, Near Vision Behaviour (NVB), provides reliable and robust measurements of the wearer’s near vision.
NVB takes into account a wearer’s behaviour and posture while replicating a key and familiar activity at short distances so that the vision area is positioned and shaped where and how they need it.
The Varilux X series is available at major optical shops throughout Malaysia.
