Good turnout: SMEs seek out ways to adapt new technology into their business at the workshop.

AS NEW technology trends disrupt traditional businesses, more and more SMEs are seeking ways to adapt to the changing business landscape.

With that, some 560 SMEs gathered at the New Financing, New Retail O2O AI/IoT Workshop last Wednesday to learn about the various options available to them to bring their business forward in an era of increased connectivity.

The full-day workshop, organised by EntreVestors, touched on topics such as new financing channels for small businesses including equity crowdfunding (ECF), peer-to-peer lending (P2P) and venture capitalists (VC). Some of the other sessions also looked at offline-to-online and online-to-offline retail models, as well as ways to apply artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data and Blockchain technology into business operations.

The event featured speakers such as Funding Societies director of business development Ryo Gim, CGC chief business officer Leong Weng Choong, redONE Network co-founder Ben The and SuperAnt chief executive officer and co-founder David Lim.

The workshop is endorsed by the Secretariat for the Advancement of Malaysian Entrepreneurs.
