COMPANIES vying for a chance to be recognised at The Star Outstanding Business Awards (SOBA) 2017 will have more time to prepare their applications as the submission deadline has been extended to Oct 27 to cater to the overwhelming enquiries.
This extension will benefit companies requiring more time, particularly those outside the Klang Valley.
The submissions can be couriered to or dropped off at Menara Star by 5pm on Oct 27.
SOBA, which honours up-and-coming local, non-listed companies and small and medium enterprises, is in its eighth year. SOBA is open to all local enterprises that are not part of a multinational or listed group, and incorporated in Malaysia with foreign equity not exceeding 50%.
This year, the awards will maintain its two tiers – one for enterprises with a turnover of more than RM25mil and the other for those that have generated less than RM25mil per annum – to recognise the achievements of upcoming small businesses as well as more established SMEs.
SOBA has seven “Top-Of-The-Class” awards, namely, Best in Marketing, Best Brand, Best in CSR, Best Green Initiative, Best Employer, Best Innovation and Best Global Market, as well as three “Outstanding Achievement” awards, which are Rising Star, Entrepreneur of the Year (Male/Female/Young) and the coveted Malaysian Business of the Year.
This year, winners of the awards will receive editorial publicity in the SMEBiz as well as in the MetroBiz sections.
Winners will also take home the SOBA trophy, be eligible for preferential rates for advertisements in The Star carrying the SOBA logo, have the rights to use the SOBA logo/monogram on corporate and A&P collaterals, gain exposure through print and online publicity and get the opportunity to attend and speak at special talks organised by Star Media Group.
Those who wish to participate may obtain the awards submission pack from The Star or download the forms from www.soba.com.my.
